How It Works
How equipment finance works with a broker.
An equipment finance broker sits between your business and the lenders. You tell us the asset and the timing; we find the lender and structure that fit, and handle the paperwork through to settlement with the supplier.
The asset
Send us the quote or listing: new or used, dealer, auction or private sale.
The structure
Chattel mortgage or lease, term and any balloon, set around your cash flow. Your accountant confirms the tax treatment.
The lender
We compare lenders on rate, asset age limits, documents required and approval speed.
Approval
We prepare and lodge the application and manage the lender's questions.
Settlement
Documents signed electronically and the supplier paid, so you can take delivery.
Low-Doc Options
Fast approvals with minimal paperwork.
Unlike many other forms of lending, asset finance is often one of the easiest types of finance to obtain without providing full financial statements and tax returns.
Many lenders are comfortable assessing low-doc applications and can still offer highly competitive rates, allowing business owners to access the equipment they need without lengthy paperwork or delays.
Typical low-doc criteria
- Borrowing under $150k
- ABN registered 1+ year and GST registered
- Clean credit history
- Property-owning directors

FAQ
Equipment and vehicle finance questions, answered
What does an equipment finance broker do?
An equipment finance broker compares lenders for you and arranges the loan or lease for a business asset, from a ute or truck to an excavator or forklift. We work out the structure that suits your cash flow and tax position, prepare the application, deal with the lender and coordinate payment to the supplier, so you can get on with running the business.
Why use an equipment finance broker instead of my bank?
A bank can only offer its own products, while a broker compares several lenders, including specialist asset financiers that focus on vehicles and machinery. Lenders differ on the assets they like, the age limits they apply, how much paperwork they need and how quickly they approve. Matching your asset and business to the right lender can affect the rate, the structure and the speed.
What is a chattel mortgage?
A chattel mortgage is the most common way Australian businesses finance vehicles and equipment. Your business owns the asset from day one, the lender holds a mortgage over it, and you may be able to claim GST on the purchase upfront and depreciation plus interest as deductions. Repayments can be structured with a balloon to reduce monthly outgoings - your accountant can confirm the tax treatment for your situation.
Can I get equipment finance without full financial statements?
Often, yes. Asset finance is one of the easiest types of business lending to obtain on a low-doc basis. Many lenders will approve applications for borrowings under $150,000 without full financials where the business has held an ABN for at least a year, is GST registered, has a clean credit history and the directors own property. Approval in these cases is commonly within 24 hours.
Can I finance used or auction-purchased equipment?
Yes. Most lenders finance quality used assets, including dealer, auction and in some cases private-sale purchases, though age limits apply (many lenders want the asset to be under a certain age at the end of the loan term). Rates on used and private-sale assets can differ from new - we compare who treats your asset best.
How fast can vehicle or equipment finance be approved?
For straightforward low-doc applications under $150,000, approval within 24 to 48 hours is common. Larger or full-doc deals take longer depending on the lender and the asset. Tell us your settlement deadline - auction purchases in particular - and we will match you with a lender that can move at that speed.
Do you arrange car, ute and van finance for businesses?
Yes. Business vehicle finance works much like equipment finance: the vehicle is the security, and a chattel mortgage is the most common structure for an ABN holder buying a car, ute, van or truck for business use. We compare lenders on rate, term, balloon options and vehicle age limits, and the same applies whether you are buying one vehicle or adding to a fleet.
Do you arrange equipment finance outside Sydney?
Yes. We are based in Norwest in Sydney, but equipment and vehicle finance is arranged by phone, email and electronic signing, so we work with businesses across Australia. The lender assesses your business and the asset rather than your postcode. If you are buying at auction or from an interstate dealer, tell us the settlement deadline early so we can match a lender that can meet it.
Do you finance excavators, forklifts and other yellow goods?
Yes. We arrange finance for excavators, forklifts, skid steers, earthmoving machinery, trucks, trailers and specialised business equipment, for new and used assets. Structures include chattel mortgage and lease options with flexible terms and balloon payments to suit your cash flow.
